Heavy Plains is last night’s pizza, eaten standing up, cold and with generous splashes of Cholula. They’re Fresh Prince reruns when nothing else is on. They think they’re Jazzy Jeff but they’re probably more Geoffrey, or actor Joseph Marcell, caught between takes in a tender moment of self reflection. They’re podcasts on cassette but they’re not books on tape. Some Heavy Plains members’ guilty pleasures are other members’ favorite bands. None of them know karate.
